This paper aims to analyse the main mechanisms through one achieves international technology transfer and their importance for the core and the peripheral european countries. There are presented empirical evidences regarding the knowledge flows sent by the technological leaders, structured by european destinations. Our findings indicate that technological flows between the high developed countries are much more consistent than those from them to the low/medium depelopment level economies. This partly explains the divergent trend as concern the factor productivity and, hence, economic development.
