The contemporary world becomes more and more dangerous, challenging the society’s capacity to provide solutions for safety on different plans. The economy signals difficulties due to the implications of the financial crisis, transmitting shock waves at national level for governance and security. Natural environment is assaulted by the variety and quantity of emissions, discharges, and waste deposits. Extraction of resources lessens the available stock for future generations and increases the acuteness of international confrontations, pushing states toward armed conflicts and terrorist movements. Globalization is among the processes considered responsible for such evolutions, and the theory succeeds hardly to formulate explanation regarding the drivers and long term impact. The paper aims to put in balance globalization’s evolutions that are surprising through the economic, social, and policy implications and it will provide an analysis of them in the light of the main currents of thought.
