The transition to a circular economy (CE) is critical for enhancing the supply resilience of critical raw materials (CRMs) within the European Union (EU). This paper examines the interconnectedness between critical raw materials, circular economy initiatives, and supply chain resilience in the EU. It explores the role of CRMs in supporting key economic sectors while addressing the challenges associated with their supply vulnerabilities. Effective policies and strategies are essential for managing these resources sustainably, ensuring economic stability and environmental sustainability in the face of increasing demand. The study also highlights the necessity for robust cooperation among EU member states to ensure the supply of CRMs, focusing on mechanisms that enhance resource efficiency and recycling efforts. Additionally, through a comprehensive analysis of current data on consumption and imports of CRMs, the paper evaluates the potential impact of circular economy practices on reducing dependency on primary raw material extraction and lowering carbon emissions. Ultimately, it provides recommendations for improving the coherence and effectiveness of EU policies aimed at increasing the resilience of supply chains and fostering a sustainable and competitive economic landscape in the context of increasing global interdependencies and environmental challenges.
