This paper aims at highlighting several origin mercantilist ideas in the works of Dimitrie Cantemir (1673-1726). These ideas resemble those expressed by Antoyne de Montchréstien and Peter the Great, but they are clearly and particularly defined. His mercantilist and commercialist ideas, expressed so clearly especially in his work Description of Moldavia, represent an exceptional symbiosis between his economic thinking. Originally a resolute supporter of absolute monarchy, he become gradually acquainted with the new thinking of bourgeoisie and with the forward-looking ideas as Niccolò Machiavelli, Antoyne de Montchréstien and Thomas Mun.
