ISO 31000 is a framework developed by risk professionals providing standardized simple guidelines in order to achieve successful risk management policies. Each project is faced with uncertainty and risk. The main challenge for the project managers is to maintain an acceptable level of risk for the scope of the Project. ISO defines a management system as a set of procedures an organisation needs to follow in order to meet its objectives. A management system standard provides a model to follow when setting up and operating a management system. Standardised systems like ISO have defined and documented processes that are intended to explicitly manage processes within an organisation. This paper approaches the updated ISO Standard 31000:2018, its core concepts and the benefits of its implementation.
