The agricultural policy is one of the most complex integrationist economic policies of the European Union, with implications not only upon the agricultural and food processing sector, but also upon the welfare of the whole society. In the last two decades, it went through several successive reforms, with the main goal to diminish the distorting support level provided on the European agricultural markets and to better allocate the resources in agriculture and rural areas. In spite of this, the already completed reforms are considered as not sufficient and there are voices in favour of a total reform of the Common Agricultural Policy.
