In the recent years, in Romania the significant process of specialization for some credit institutions, appeared on the background of the improvement in the economic environment, determined the emergence of a more complex financial landscape that now comprises consumer finance societies, mortgage societies, microfinance societies and some specialized banks. As consequences of these developments, we could highlight the increasing competition in the banking sector; a better allocation of financial resources in the economy; the increasing firms’ competitiveness, through diversifying the sources of financing; the increasing degree of financial intermediation; the populations’ standard of life increase.
