In this study, we show that the main problem facing the Eurozone economy is the relatively low competitiveness of the PIIGS economies. Findings show that the defining trait of PIIGS countries is neither budget deficits, nor public debt, but rather the current account deficits. We argue that, while tightening fiscal discipline within the Eurozone is a must, it does not solve that problem.

The main purpose of this paper is to demonstrate that a single European currency project proves to be a failure. Although it was designed to limit the discretionary monetary policy of the national governments and to stimulate the economic exchanges within the European Union, the euro seems to be used by politicians to enhance centralism and control over all economic activities in Europe.

The current study firstly conducts an analysis of the factors and the way they have influenced the dynamics and structure characteristics of European exports during the global crisis, focusing on elements specific to emerging European countries. Secondly, we performed a quantitative analysis on the way recession’s effects from the exporting and importing countries have affected the export volume dynamics.

Having generated not only growth performance, but also serious imbalances that make it unsustainable in the future, “the Chinese model” has entered into a complex and profound adjustment process, designed to restore its vitality and sustainability, so that the Chinese economy doesn’t remain captive, like other developing economies, in the “average income trap”, but a developed economy.

The classical definition of inflation refers to increasing the quantity of money in circulation. However, in everyday language, inflation is seen rather through the effects of monetary expansion, i.e. increasing prices. Therefore, the term “inflation” generates a semantic confusion, for which could be responsible the omnipresence of consumer price index (CPI) in the official reports.

Throughout human history, polities have found it necessary to devote resources towards maintaining security from other polities or to prosecute a war against them. This paper explores the evolution of the war economy, as well as the circumstances which mandated and instruments which allowed the rapid transformations of the relationship between society and conventional warfare.
